Learn what information to share when requesting customs clearance, documentation support or assistance with shipment-related certificates.
Customs requirements depend on the goods, countries involved and shipment circumstances. Preparing your available documents and product information gives the logistics team a starting point for reviewing your clearance requirements.
Share your shipment information
For an import-clearance enquiry, include the import country, origin country, commodity description, shipment mode, port or airport and estimated arrival date.
For export clearance, provide the export country, destination, commodity, shipment mode and planned shipment date.
Include the HS code if you already know it.
Provide available commercial documents
Upload your commercial invoice and packing list, together with available shipping documents or supporting paperwork.
Depending on the shipment, assistance may also involve a Certificate of Origin, Certificate of Conformity, manufacturer declarations or other shipment-specific documents.
The required document set must be reviewed for your particular shipment.
Explain your product clearly
If you need HS classification support, provide the product name, material, function, manufacturer and part number. Technical datasheets or product catalogues can support the review.
Final classification remains subject to confirmation by the relevant customs authority or appointed licensed customs broker.
Discuss duty and tax coordination
Share the invoice value, freight value, insurance value, currency and Incoterm where applicable. Estimated charges should not be treated as verified final duties without the appropriate review.
